Developing Intelligence Led Border Forces

Case Study: IMPROVING A STATE’S BORDER FORCE

Client: UK Allied Government in the MENA region

Challenges: Prior to the training programme, the state’s Border Force faced challenges in effectively identifying and disrupting illegal activities at different entry points. There was a need to enhance the capabilities of the Border Force in detecting and combating activities such as narcotics and weapons smuggling, human trafficking, and terrorism.

Solution: Harquebus implemented a four-year training programme that focused on Behavioural Detection Operations (BDO) and Intelligence Collection and Analysis. The programme aimed to transition the Border Force’s operations to an intelligence-driven and proactive approach. Through this initiative, border force personnel were equipped with the necessary skills to enhance their detection capabilities and disrupt illegal activities.

Results: As a result of the training, the Border Force’s operations successfully transitioned to an intelligence-driven and proactive approach. This shift significantly increased the detection of illegal activities while concurrently boosting morale and retention rates among border force personnel. The enhanced capabilities enabled improved detection and disruption of narcotics and weapons smuggling, as well as combating human trafficking and countering terrorism. Overall, the training programme substantially improved the Border Force’s effectiveness and efficiency in safeguarding the state’s borders. Harquebus regularly runs modular packages globally (including in the UK) to help protect public spaces and large commercial entertainment venues.
